Scott Bloomquist Claims Third National Championship

WAYCROSS, GA (November 1, 2016) - Scott Bloomquist capped off a successful season on Saturday night at Portsmouth Raceway Park, claiming his third-career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship. The Mooresburg, TN native finished a record-breaking 880-points ahead of Jonathan Davenport in the 2016 championship standings.

“It’s been a great year – we set out to win this championship this year and we did it,” said Bloomquist. “This was the toughest competition on the series there has ever been. You never knew from week to week who was going to be on top. I look for a few others to join us next year to make it even tougher.”

Bloomquist reached victory lane on fifteen (15) different occasions and finished in the top five in thirty-one (31) Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events in 2016. Piloting his Crop Production Services, Mark Martin Automotive, Reece Monument Company, Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis – powered by a Durham Racing Engine, Bloomquist will collect over $75,000 in cash and other prizes at the series year-end awards banquet.

The 2016 National Champion attributed his success to the help of his sponsors. “I have to thank Reece Monument Company, Crop Production Services, Andy Durham Racing Engines, Mark Martin Automotive, Sobera Chiropractic and Wellness, Horton Coal, Petroff Towing, Lucas Oil Products, Hoosier Tires, Allstar Performance, Penske Shocks, and Base Racing Fuels.”

Jonathan Davenport (NC) finished second, followed by Tim McCreadie (NY), Brandon Sheppard (IL), and Don O’Neal (IN) rounding out the top five in series standings. Sixth through twelfth are: Dennis Erb Jr. (IL), Darrell Lanigan (KY), Earl Pearson Jr. (FL), Jimmy Owens (TN), Jared Landers (AR), Steve Francis (KY), and Colton Flinner (PA).
