Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Coming to Dixie and Rome this Weekend

WAYCROSS, GA (October 2, 2012) – The 2012 season for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has produced another exciting year of racing as the season winds down to the final events of the year in October. The series will again visit two tracks that have been on the schedule every year since the series was formed in 2005. This weekend’s events will take place on Saturday Night, October 6th for the “Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout” in Woodstock, GA and Sunday Night, October 7th for the “Rome Rumble” at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA.

There will be a complete show both days with Red Buck Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and a $10,000 to win main event at each track. “It’s always fun to head back to the state of Georgia and see all the great fans in the south. The tradition and legacy that was set by the late Mike Swims is special at both tracks. We hope to again honor what Mike Swims has done for the sport and also remember the great Jimmy Mosteller who was a vital part of the Dixie and Rome Speedway over the years. Jimmy passed away back in July of this year and will be missed this coming weekend at two of his favorite tracks. He was a true gentlemen and an ambassador for our sport and helped mold the traveling touring series to what we have today”, stated Ritchie Lewis, Director-Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

This weekend’s competition will include some of the toughest regional and local racers from the south to compete against the stars of the LOLMDS. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is looking to wrap-up his second straight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship this weekend in the state of GA. Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN who leads the series with eleven victories will join Owens in action along with 2-time series champion and 6-time Dixie Shootout winner, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN; last weekend’s Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals Winner, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; 4-time series Champion Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; leading Quarter Master Rookie of the Year candidate Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA, 16-year-old phenom, Tyler Reddick of Corning, CA; Jared Landers of Batesville, AR; and Eric Wells of Hazard, KY are all expected to compete this weekend.
