WAYCROSS, GA (July 22, 2011)- The 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 Presented by Lucas Oil Products will be held at Florence Speedway in Union, KY on August 11-13th. This event is one of the crown jewel events in dirt late model racing, and will pay $50,000 to win and $2,500 to start. Jimmy Owens of Newport TN is the defending race winner passing 4-Time Series Champion Earl Pearson Jr. on the white flag lap to win last year’s edition of the race. For the past two years now the race winner has made the winning pass on the last lap. Jimmy Mars passed Don O’Neal on the white flag lap to win the 2009 event.
Advanced tickets for this mega event are going fast but race fans can still purchase tickets. The general admission open seating sections fill up quickly, so the only way to guarantee yourself a seat for this race is to purchase your seats in advance. After that date, including the day of the race, tickets and seats will be available at full price. To order tickets and reserved seats (or check on seat availability), call the track office at (859)493-0034.
Camping is allowed at the track free of charge during the North/South week and weekend. No hookups are available. The camping areas will be marked and site maps with the camping areas marked will be posted at the track. Fans can begin marking camping spots on Saturday July 30th and at any time during the week. The largest camping area (outside turn 2) will be marked and opened for camping sometime on Sunday the 7th. All camping spots are first come first served.
Vendors interested in setting up at the North/South 100 must contact the track in advance of the event to confirm their reservation. Due to sponsor commitments, vending space will be limited this year. All vendors must be approved in advance. Those showing up without contacting the tack in advance will be turned away. To inquire about setting up at the North/South 100, email Josh King at jking@florencespeedway.com.
