OAK RIDGE, TN (February 26, 2009) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is excited to announce that the series will partner with the Home Depot in Oak Ridge, TN for the Saturday March 7th, 2009 kids workshop. With the racing season gearing up, it is fitting that the theme of the March 7th kids workshop is “A Home Depot Speedway,” upon completion of the project each child will be awarded a diploma with their name on it.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials will be on hand during the event, along with their 5150 Custom Race Trailer for a walkthrough tour, and a special appearance by the #5 Super Late Model of Eric Jacobsen Racing.
“We are really excited to be involved with this workshop at the Oak Ridge [TN] Home Depot,” exclaimed Series Director Ritchie Lewis, “kids make up a large portion of our fan base, and are a very important part of the industry as well, they are the future fans, drivers, mechanics, engineers, etc… that are going to keep Dirt Late Model racing around for another generation.”
This will be the first time that the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Home Depot in Oak Ridge, TN have joined forces for the event.
“The Oak Ridge Home Depot has a Kids Workshop on the 1st Saturday of every month. There are different projects each month,” explained Patty Tindell, Kids Workshop Coordinator at the Oak Ridge Home Depot. “What's more it’s FREE; the workshop teaches kids how to build useful wooden projects and practice tool safety,” continued Ms. Tindell, “Being part of our kids workshop on March 7th, we are proud to have The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series as our guest, displaying the racecar, a walk through trailer, and the series officials on hand. This is going to be an exciting event and we are looking forward to this very much.”
